We share it only with the service providers named below, when the law requires it, or in anonymous, aggregated statistics. If LangLibra were ever sold or merged, we would tell you about any change to how data is handled.
Service providers
These companies process data on our behalf (they are “processors”: they may use it only to provide their service to us). Google also acts independently for advertising, under its own privacy policy.
| Provider | What they do | Data they receive | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| [Hosting provider] | Hosts and delivers the website | IP address, server logs | [country] |

Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. You choose which optional ones to allow when you first visit, and you can change your choice at any time.
To opt out elsewhere: Google Ads Settings, the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, the DAA WebChoices tool or the NAI opt-out page. Blocking advertising cookies does not remove ads; it makes them less tailored. Read how Google uses data on partner sites in the Google Privacy Policy.
| Cookie | Set by | Type | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| [consent cookie] | [Consent platform] | Essential | Remembers your cookie choice | 12 months |
| FCCDCF, FCNEC | Google (consent) | Essential | Stores consent choices for Google services | 13 months |
| _ga | Google Analytics | Analytics | Tells visits apart | 2 years |
| _ga_<ID> | Google Analytics | Analytics | Keeps visit state | 2 years |
| __gads, __gpi | Google AdSense | Advertising | Limits repeat ads, measures ads | 13 months |
| __eoi | Google AdSense | Advertising | Ad security and fraud prevention | 6 months |
| IDE | Google (doubleclick.net) | Advertising | Personalised ads, if allowed | 13 months |
Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland see a consent banner from [Google-certified consent platform] before any optional cookie is set. Until you choose, Google Analytics and AdSense run in Google Consent Mode, which sends no identifiers and serves only non-personalised ads.
Change cookie settingsYour rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to do any of the following. Email contact@langlibra.com; we reply within one month and may ask you to confirm the request comes from you. It is free.
To complain, contact the data protection authority where you live or work. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner’s Office; in the EU, find yours on the European Data Protection Board list. We would appreciate the chance to fix it first.
Legal bases
EU and UK law (the GDPR and UK GDPR) and Swiss law (the FADP) require a legal reason, called a legal basis, for each use of personal data. Ours are:
| Use | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Newsletter | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Replying to contact messages | Your consent, and our legitimate interest in answering you |
| Analytics and advertising cookies | Your consent |
| Server logs, security, essential cookies, font delivery | Our legitimate interests: keeping the site secure, working and readable |
| Keeping records the law requires | Legal obligation |
We make no automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
International transfers
Some providers, including Google, process data in the United States. Those transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) where the provider is certified, and otherwise on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, contract terms approved to protect data sent outside the EU.
US state privacy rights
We do not sell personal information for money. Personalised advertising can count as “sharing” under California and other state laws. To opt out, use Change cookie settings and turn off advertising, or switch on Global Privacy Control in your browser: we treat that signal as an opt-out. We do not discriminate against anyone who uses these rights.
Security
The whole site runs over HTTPS (encrypted connections). Access to newsletter and contact data is limited to the people who need it, protected by two-factor sign-in. If a breach put your data at risk, we would notify the regulator within 72 hours and tell you directly where the law requires.
Children
LangLibra is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we also tell newsletter subscribers by email before they take effect.
