Spanish false friends: embarazada, actual, librería and what they really mean

Tap a card to turn it over · 0 of 12 turned

Short answer: false friends are words that look like English words but mean something else. Embarazada means pregnant; for embarrassed, say avergonzado or me da vergüenza. Actual means current; for actual, say real. Una librería is a bookshop; a library is una biblioteca. The good news: most look-alike words really are true friends, such as la nación, la universidad and famoso.
